Josh Meyer, Superintendent
St. John-Hudson USD 350
I was born and raised in Hutchinson. When I was in junior high school, my family moved to Burrton where my mother was a home economics teacher. I graduated from Burrton High School, attended Hutchinson Community College, earned my bachelor's degree from Kansas State, and my Master's degree from Emporia State.
My career in education began at Douglass High School where I taught math and coached various sports. I spent five years at Douglass before moving back to Burrton. I taught math for three years and was named principal of Burrton Middle/High School. I served in that position for four years and we made the move to St. John in July of 2012.
My philosophy for education, my work, and my personal life is simple. John Wooden sums it up when he writes, "I will do the best I am capable of doing today to bring out my best tomorrow." All members of the school community should live up to this ideal. We must always strive for continuous improvement.
As a district, we try to focus on our theme of “Purpose, Passion, and Pride.” We must have a purpose for anything we do. For us, our purpose is student success. A small student chair in the board of education meeting room serves as a reminder of this purpose. Having passion and enthusiasm helps us to stay positive and moving forward to meet the needs of all kids. We have an extremely proud community. We strive to live up to the community’s sense of pride in every aspect of our district operation.
My wife Kristel and I have been blessed to be able to raise our three girls in the St. John-Hudson community. One is a graduate of K-State teaching in Manhattan, another is a current student at K-State, and our youngest is a student at SJH. I am proud to be a Tiger and proud to serve USD 350 with Purpose, Passion, and Pride.
