Recess Guidelines
RECESS GUIDELINES FOR ELEMENTARY CLASSES
Children enjoy recess time during the day and students are expected to go outside during recess. Being active and getting exercise is an important part of the school day. Students should always come to school with proper clothing (coad, hat, gloves, etc.) to be outside for recess. Our school has policy guidelines to help us determine when we should keep students indoors for recess. Keep in mind that these are guidelines and common sense will always prevail when making decisions. A note from a doctor or a daily parental note is generally required if a child needs to stay inside because of health reasons.
Recess will be outdoors unless:
- The projected wind chill at 11:00am is 15 degrees or lower
- There is significant falling moisture
- There is snow or ice on the playground area makes it unsafe to be outside
